Hello again! I hope all of you are doing good. As I write this post, the weather here in Lucknow gets better than the usual heat. I am eagerly waiting for the rains but that will happen sometime around July here. Getting back to the post, today I’m going to talk about my mail which came in today which made my day very very special.
Im sure you all know my love for Mr. Ruskin Bond by now. I had planned a visit to Mussoorie to meet him on the 20th of May, 2017; I called up the owner of Cambridge Book Depot to confirmย If Mr. Bond will be visiting on Saturday and to my surprise he wasn’t as he would be visiting the store on Friday as it was his 83rd Birthday. (Now i was oblivious of this because I never looked up his birth date on Google. I only knew about his background a little from his books!)
I was so disappointed that I’d have to wait for another set of holidays to meet the author. But my father decided that we’d leave on 18th itself and so we set out on our journey that very night to Mussoorie covering almost 790km.

Cutting short to finally meeting the man himself, I was out of words in that moment. Because of the crowd we didn’t get much time to interact so i could only wish him happy birthday and he smiled at me. I’ll never forget that moment.

I took a picture with him however he wasn’t signing books that day. I had given my book to the very kind owner of the store and as promised, the signed copies arrived today in a neatly packed brown paper package. The feeling was unreal. I couldn’t be any happier.

I highly recommend his books to people of all ages. His writing style and story telling will make you an instant fan. Also, do let me know about your favourite author in the comments down below! Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week ahead! ๐

You can start with “A Gathering Of Friends.” Its a compilation of the author’s favourite stories selected from his major works of fiction. His books will make you very happy, I can surely assure you of that! ๐

Ruskin Bond’s stories are interesting. I enjoyed his ‘Room on the Roof’ which I read as a teenage student nearly six decades ago. Later, I graduated to that other Bond, James. Ruskin’s Shamli is not the Shamli I come from, though.
